  • Personal and national traumas are linked

Weaves the story of two traumas: burying his young son one day, and giving a speech inside a building that is under siege the very next day. Beautifully written and forcefully argued on historical, legal, intellectual, and emotional grounds. Few people have this insider view and the position and talent to tell a story like this.

  • Excellent

This is without question the very best book I've read about the insurrection of Jan. 6, 2021. Jamie Raskin's writing, draws you in so you just can't put the book down. His insight into that horrible day is of course first hand because he was not only in the Capitol building on that fatefull day, but he was also the Head Manager for the impeachment hearings thereby giving him first hand knowledge of all that occurred. When you couple all of this with the fact that he had just lost his beloved son Tommy a few days before it makes it heart wrenching. His son was a true humanitarian and Mr. Raskin wove their intense and beautiful into the writing of the book throughout. I've read many books about that day and this one is without question far and above anything I've read to date. I've always admired Jamie Raskin, but he is now on my bucket list of people I'd love to meet.........I would be so humbled and honoured. I'm an 83 year old Canadian who is also a lifelong American politics "junkie" and I've never read any book which even comes close to being as wonderful as this one. It is a must read.

  • A Tale of Two Tragedies

I chose to read this book to better understand the events that led to the second Trump impeachment trial. Mr. Raskin provided all of that with his first-hand experience and tells it in a comprehensive and compelling narrative. But there’s a second story here, carefully woven in a consistently relevant and touching way - the life and contribution of his late son, Tommy. Two simultaneous tragedies, one at the most intimate and the other at the highest level of how we govern ourselves. Both excruciating, both inter-twined. Both with light at the end.

  • Unthinkable

This book called Unthinkable had a greater understanding of events that took place on Jan 6, 2021, to those who want a true picture of the author and what he and his family went through should read this book, you will have a better understanding of what actually took place on that day. It was. Worth the money spent and I encourage others to read and get informed. God bless the Raskin family. Stay strong Congressmen Raskin and continue to save the democracy of the United States. Sincerely Bernie Veness Canadian Citizen.
