From Blood and Ash is Jennifer L. Armentrout's first High Fantasy to write and it was mine to read. I never read them before because I was scared I couldn't get into them. Well JLA changed that for me. I will admit that the beginning started slow, but you can tell that it was because she had to build the story and introduce characters. It works out in the end because the story is amazing! You will laugh, cry, smile, blush, and yell throughout the whole book. This book has it all! Mystery, betrayal, drama, fighting, death, love, everything you can think of! Jen did such an amazing job with this story and I can't wait to see where the rest of this story takes us.

  • Absolutely Addictive

This book. I cannot even handle all the emotions it gave me. I'd been excited from the moment I read it, but nothing could have prepared me for everything it did to my little reader heart by the end. Truly, one of my favourite surprise books of 2020. Seriously, where do I begin? I went into it expecting to just instantly fall for Hawke, and I'll come back to him in a second, because this story was all about Poppy. And I am so glad it was, because I adore her. One of the best female characters I've read this year. She is everything I want in a character. Strong yet vulnerable. Naive yet smart. Funny yet fierce. She is a treasure. I loved every second with her and found her to be easy to relate to. As for Hawke, well... He is definitely the bad boy who pushes the boundaries a bit, but I still found him to be a fun, sexy, and complex alpha male. I would love to know more of what makes him tick, and see what undoes him. Some of the side characters, such as the Duchess, Vikter, and Tawny were just wonderful. I completed adored them, and they added to a story filled with lore, twists, drama, danger, incredible action scenes, and steamy romance. And the ending... I cannot get over it. Some of the twists completely threw me for a loop and I am so eager to get back into this world again and see them explored. Poppy and Hawke's relationship will only become more complex from here, and I truly need more. This is a book no one should miss. I recommend it to anyone who likes romance, vampire lore, and action, but all lovers of dark fantasy need this on their shelves. I adore it.

  • Great Fantasy Read!

I have so much going through my head after finishing From Blood and Ash. There was a whole lot packed into this book and I'm still trying to process it all. There was a lot of emotion, both good and bad, action, humor, and of course surprises. It's not a Jenn book without a lot of twists and turns that throw you for a loop. And they definitely threw me for a loop. I had a few suspicions about some things along the way, but I was definitely not expecting everything to happen the way it did. It was definitely a unique and intriguing book that sucked me in and kept me guessing. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.*

  • Decent book to keep you company

Some bits are predictable but but if youre in it to keep your mind occupied, it's a pretty decent read to do just that. If you like supernatural love stories, this is one
