  • Fun read!

Fake It Till You Bake It was a fun read and one I didn't know I needed after some heavier books. Donovan Dell is a successful football player, but is all about having order in his life, so he's already thinking about life after football. Enter the cupcakery he and two of his friends and teammates started, called Sugar Blitz. While they started out gangbusters, lately their sales numbers have been dropping and Donovan is trying to figure out how to turn the tide. Jada Townsend-Matthews is learning that all attention isn't good attention. She went on a reality dating show thinking it might help her get ahead with the dreams she had for her life, but little did she know that when she turned down the proposal of the show's lead, she would become the most hated woman in America. When Jada goes into Sugar Blitz with a friend, lets just say that her first run-in with Donovan is just that, a run-in. It did not go well at all! When Donovan and Jada are forced to work together thanks to her grandmother and the owner of the team Donovan plays for, they find they have more chemistry than they might have initially realized. Couple that with the fact they can help one another with the issues they are both facing and a fake romance commences. Will it stay that way or will real feelings find their way through? As I mentioned above, this was a fun read and one I'm glad I picked up!

  • Really hit the sweet spot

I've got to say that this book really hit the sweet spot with me. Honestly, I'm no reality TV fan but I do love baking, so I thought that this book sounded fun and gave it a try and I'm very glad I did. This book read smoothly and easily and was just the feel good, heart lightener that I needed. Jada and Donovan were very cute together and their chemistry shined brightly. I truly liked them both. The story was quickly paced and sometimes felt a bit OTT but you know what? I liked that and felt it fit beautifully with the story that was being told. This was my first read by this author and it will not be my last. This is my unbiased, unsolicited review.

  • Cupcakes, Football Players & Opposites

Fake It Till You Bake It by Jamie Wesley is a cute, humorous, light-hearted fake dating relationship featuring Jada Townsend-Matthews, who is fresh off of a reality dating show, and Donovan Dell, a professional NFL player and co-owner of a cupcake shop, Sugar Blitz. Donovan loves to bake. He establishes goals and works to meet them. He’s driven, calm, and controlled. Jada has no clue what she wants to do with her life and things don’t seem to be working out well for her either. She’s confused, uncertain, and insecure as well as being impulsive. Because of her impulsiveness and need to earn money, Jada agrees to a plan her grandmother cooked up, working for Donovan. When a reporter mistakenly believes they’re a couple, and they decide to take advantage of it by faking a relationship. This way, they can help the business and improve Jada’s image. It doesn’t hurt that the chemistry between Jada and Donovan is off-the-charts and the attraction is magnetic. This story seems to have it all, a fake relationship, enemies to lovers, opposites attract, sizzling chemistry, a star football player who can make cupcakes and an unpopular reality star teaming up to repair public images and save the cupcake business. Combining romance and humor, the story also covers some deep themes ranging from gambling addiction to the impact of social media on lives to blackmail to teamwork to how parents’ opinions and actions affect their children even as adults. Ms. Wesley wrote the perfect start to a new series of football players who open a cupcake bakery together. She provided a tale rich with humor, emotions, sizzling chemistry, clever banter, and endearing secondary characters giving Jada and Donovan a chance at love, and a future together. I highly recommend Fake It Till You Bake It to other readers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

  • "The kiss was sweeter than spun sugar."

I absolutely love this book!! Jada and Donovan are funny, charismatic and a truly enjoyable couple. Jada is brutally honest with everyone and I found her to be the perfect match for Donovan. She had great ideas for how to bring more customers to Donovan’s cupcake shop and she did an amazing job hosting the book club. I was surprised that Donovan joined her that night and that he had even read the book! It didn’t take Jada long to determine how to help Donovan make Sugar Blitz more successful and a destination spot for those near and far. Donovan’s first impression of Jada was mixed; she was the most beautiful woman he had ever met but her attitude was questionable and her tone was rude. Donovan needed to loosen up a bit and Jada certainly captivated him with her personality, her ability to win over his customers and her willingness to do anything to help him. Jada was afraid her balloon of happiness would pop if her past got in the way. Donovan wasn't sure if Jada would get bored of him and leave to travel and find out what she really wanted to do. Jada and Donovan deserve a happy ending and I am confident that he will make the right play to win her heart!!

  • Missed the mark

Fake It Till You Bake It by Jamie Wesley is about a fake relationship. Donovan Dell, a professional football player, and his teammates own a Sugar Blitz bakery in San Diego, CA. After turning down a proposal on a reality dating show, Jada Townsend-Matthews is the most renowned woman in America. Who goes home to lick her wounds. Much to her surprise, her family believes she needs to work for a living when she finds herself working for the one man she dismissed. While the blurb set the intentions and expectations for this book, I felt like it missed the mark.
